Metal Gear solid portable ops review

Metal gears has been around since 1987 when the first Metal gear was created and published for the MSX2 home computer since then it has appeared on the ps1, ps2, ps3, psp and xbox. Metal gear portable ops for psp its in my experience one of the best psp games you can get.

The controls are simple yet solid. you sue the analog to move your character and the D pad to look around while the two bumpers on the top are used to get your gun in firing position and aim. The X button is used to crouch and go prone, O is used to selected you weapons and equip them, the square button is used to grab, drag, , interrogate and know out people ( by tapping the square button rapidly until they pass out) finally but not least the triangle button is used stalk/ get behind walls and perform actions.

The game play is similar to all the other metal gear games which if your new to the Metal gear series involves sneaking around avoiding enemy soldiers while completing objective such has capturing enemy officers or blowing up trucks to create a diversion so you can get across a bridge. one of the new feature for this installment is the ability to capture enemy soldiers and have them join your team. each person you capture has there own traits such has being good with rifles along with being able to send items they pick up back to the truck. The traits give the game a lot of replay value by making you consider which soldiers have the traits best suited for the mission. when doing a mission if one of your squad members die the are permently dead the only exeptions to this are the characters that play a important part in the story. if they loose all of there health then they are out of the mission and need some time to heal up. You have up to four squads each being able to hold up to 4 people the advantage to having 4 squads is the ability to have one thats best suited for each type of situation

The online portion of the game is great you use the squads that you have formed in the single player portion of the game to play against other peoples squads there ares several online modes a real conflict to where if one of your squad members die then they are permently dead while in vr if a squad member dies they are just KO and unusable until the round is over. suprisingly the games I've played have been lag free making it a blast to play online against other people.

Over all this is a great game to have for the psp whether or not are a fan of the Metal Gear series
